Quick, easy to understand tutorials for Google Spreasheets

Allison Mollica is a colleague of ours from New Hampshire.  She has produced a number of Google help videos that cover gmail, Google's Form and Google Presentation, to name a few. If you are new to Google Spreadsheets or just need a refresher, here are three short videos that you should find interesting:

How do you find suitable programs to be used on the LNV?

Our SU belongs to the Learning Network of Vermont (LNV).  Through the use of our video conferencing technology (which can be setup at your school), you can take your class on an interactive visit to museums, classes in other schools, NASA, etc.  Please look through the CILC program catalog and then fill out the paperwork requried to reserve an online session.  Many of the programs are fee based but since the state of Vermont has a bank of dollars allocated specifically for schools to use the LNV, there is no cost to us!  For additional information, help on selecting a program, assistance in filling out the paperwork, or arranging for an LNV setup, please send me an email.

Are you experiencing trouble with interactive web sites and the Smartboard?

If you have been experiencing issues using the Smart Board with interactive games on line, try changing the browser that you are using to open the site.  Although many of us use Chrome or Safari as our default browser, sometimes using Internet Explorer for a problem site makes all the difference.

Thanks to Matt Malkiewicz for this tech tip.

Smithsonian's History Explorer

The History Explorer is one of the partner sites found at Thinkfinity.  You can search for grade level resources by specifying artifacts, interactives and media, primary sources, worksheets, time period, etc.  Many of the resources come packaged in a handy one page format; check out the package on Hurricane Katrina and collecting from a disaster.

iPad workshop (afterschool, Weds., Jan 9th) @ Weathersfield computer lab

If you have a laptop, please bring it along with your iPad.  Your computer will need to have both DropBox and the Breezy connector installed.  If you would like to have these programs preinstalled (along with Breezy, CloudOn and DropBox on your iPad) please submit a helpdesk request.

(Breezy only works with PCs...if you have a Mac, we're working on installing a similar program that will enable your iPhone or iPad to print documents on Mac networks.)

I've posted a few iPad apps...

This link will bring you to a Google Docs folder that has over 1300 free, curriculum specific iPad apps.  The links were authenticated during the summer by a group of colleagues in Texas.  Hopefully, most are still good...(as of early December, I removed any of the links that have either gone commercial or are no longer active).

To take a screenshot you need to briefly press both the home and power button at the same time - the screen should then appear to flash and a picture of it saved to the Camera Roll album (Photos)
